Team Aarakshya wins the title of SPIRATHON 2017

The team of three young engineering girls from Pulchowk Campus has won the title of first ever SPIRATHON 2017 organized by Spiralogics International in partnership with Spiralogics Institute of Technology.

Out of 122 teams who registered, 10 were selected for the final two-day appathon event (Nov 18-19). These teams turned their raw idea they had a real-life web or mobile application. The teams pitched their idea with their product in front of judging panel consisting of Mr. Dipesh Karki (Assistant Professor of Economics at KUSoM), Ms. Mona Nyachhyon(CEO of Logpoint Nepal), Pravin Raj Joshi(CTO of Rooster Logic), Mr. Ranjan Shrestha(CTO of Bhoos.com) and Mr. Saunak Ranjitkar(COO and CTO of Spiralogics International).

The judging panel declared Meri Sathi, an android app developed by Team Aarakshya the winner of the appathon. The team members were Alina Devkota, Spandan Pyakurel and Saloni Sikha. They are currently third-year computer engineering students at IOE, Pulchowk Campus.

MeriSathi

MeriSathi is a mobile app for female safety. The app has advanced safety feature that will be useful during emergencies. The app features a DISCUSSION FORUM that is dedicated to GBV/ female-related issues. MENSTRUAL HYGIENE TIPS feature make women and girls aware of sanitation issues during their periods and daily life. There are also ONLINE CONTESTS & CAMPAIGN for regular interactions with users. Such contests help to aware the social media about gender violence as well and contribute to making gender violence-free society.

HamroAwaaj by Team Curious Hat and Mental Health by Team RSR were able to be the first runner-up and second runner-up in the competition.

The other products presented were Federal Governance Guide by Team Meta-Node, Disease Reporting by Team SickLab, Help Notification by Team One, PAYsolve by Team CoreInside, Bhandar by Team NEPEX, Blood Donation Management System by Team Nepal Tech Solutions and Breast-Cancer Preventive App by The Golden Globes.

The winning team received 15k cash prize along with the opportunity of the internship at Spiralogics International.
